DERAP.ID|| Tokyo,- Mr. Heri Akhmadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, visited the Kasumi Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and held a discussion with President Ochi. Executive Vice President in charge of Global Initiatives, Shinji Kaneko, as well as Executive Vice President in charge of the Kasumi Campus, Faculty Personnel and Public Relations, Junko Tanaka, were also in attendance.
During the courtesy visit, they exchanged their opinions on various topics such as the activities of the joint research team established at Hiroshima University Hospital that researches healthcare in Indonesia, as well as past results of and potential further collaboration with regional healthcare sectors in Indonesia, including the dispatch of Hiroshima University Hospital doctors to Indonesia. Among other topics discussed was an initiative to accept accomplished doctoral students from Indonesia to HU.
HU has signed 28 inter-university agreements with 24 institutions and 45 inter-faculty agreements with 39 institutions in Indonesia. Currently there are 96 students from Indonesia studying at HU.
Furthermore, in March 2022, HU established the Hiroshima University Alumni Association (HUAA) Indonesia Chapter, an alumni association encompassing the entirety of Indonesia. Since then, HU has been proactive in deepening its exchange with Indonesia. In May of the same year, an event to commemorate the establishment of the chapter was held in Jakarta, HU held an exchange meeting with the same association for international students.
This courtesy visit is expected to promote further exchange with universities and research institutions in Indonesia.(@budi_rht DERAP.ID)
